Par. " St. George's Parish, Southwark. At the South- east corner of Kent Street is The Lock Hospital. "This was anciently a house for the reception and cure of lepers, but at present () it belongs to St. Bartholomew's Hospital, and is appropriated to the cure of venereal patients. The first church of St. George's, Southwark, was probably built at the beginning of the 12th century. There is no mention of it in Domesday Book, but in it was presented to the Abbey of Bermondsey by Thomas of Ardern and his son.
